Refugees in Syria

In Syria since January 1st there has been a major winter storm that affects the lives of almost 400,000 Syrian refugees. Accordingly it is estimated that around 195,000 refugees will need aid in keeping warm and dry. In spite of the rain and cold thousands of refugees still try to get across the sea to reach Europe. Turkey alone is hosting about 2.5 million Syrian refugees, and Iraq facing its own armed conflict has 250,000 refugees! Does any of this seem that it can actually be happening in this modern world right now?
