The Egyptian Revolution
The Egyptian revolution of 1952 began as the "Free Officers Movement'', lead by Muhammad Naguib and, Gamal Abdel Nasser. The revolution was initially aimed at overthrowing king farooq. However the revolution was mostly political. The purpose of that was to get rid of the Constitutional Monarchy and aristocracy of Egypt and Sudan. The revolution was immediately challenged. Especially by the United Kingdom. The United Kingdom and France had both occupied Egypt since 1882. In the end, Nasser ended up over throwing farooq and becoming king after a public referendum.
