$350,000 Rhino Permit

An endangered black rhino was recently killed by a hunter that paid $350,000 in an auction to get a permit to kill it. The $350,000 from the auction, was used to help protect black rhinos, like they could have used the money to build preserves for them. First, I think that this is crazy. Second, they let a hunter kill an endangered specie of animal that they are trying to protect. Third, instead of killing an endangered animal, just let people donate money to help protect it. The auction took place at the Dallas Convention Center, and they got death threats. If I were working with the people that started the auction, I wouldn’t have allowed it to happen. I hope next time people try to raise money for the endangered black rhino, they won’t make the permit for sale. Would you be mad if someone sold a permit to kill an endangered species? http://www.cnn.com/2015/05/19/africa/namibia-rhino-hunt/

  1. Owen- I can't believe someone would pay $350.00 to kill an innocent Rhino for money to build preserves. I saw, that after the auction was over Knowlton (the hunter) had to get permission from the Fish and Wild Service team in the United States. If I were them I would do the same thing as you said, not let him do it. I also saw that 50% males and 30% females die from combat, this means usually it is either hunters or a different species. I hope in the future someone can stop innocent animals from dying all over the globe.

  2. I cant believe this is happening people are payed to kill innocent animals who have done nothing to them. I also can't believe that the guy who killed the rhino didn't get charged or anything. The African government should stop being so kind to the hunters and actually fine them or something. This the same thing that happened to the guy who killed Cecil the lion. I hope they stop this nonsense and actually resolve the problem.
