Holika Dahan

This festival begins after sunset on March 22. (hey that's today!) This festival is a celebration of how hard the people of India work through the whole year and this festival gives them a time to relax and hang out. I think this festival is like the Indian version of our Labor Day because it is basically the same concept, just on different days. This festival is like several other days in the world where the people have the day off, like labor day. This festival also brings people together, usually at a dinner with friends and family.

Yay! Friendship!

  1. I agree, this is very similar to Labor day. I feel like this would be a fun festival to go to because I love eating as you can tell from my blog post (well... not anymore). I would love the huge bonfire burning Holika like a candle. Of course there is no one in the fire, but that's what happened in the story. I wish Labor day had a huge bonfire though or at least a small one.

  2. I agree this is basically labor day. I think that this festival would be a lot like what we do in Michigan where you chill and have fun.
