Indian Culture

India is a country in south Asia with cool traditions and delicious food. Some of India’s foods include chicken tikka. Chicken tikka is chunks of grilled chicken in a creamy tomato sauce. Another delicious food in India is butter chicken. It is chicken in a semi spicy curry sauce. A cool place to visit in India is the Taj Mahal. It is a mausoleum on the south bank of the Yamuna river.  It was made in 1632 by the Mughal emperor, Shah Jahan, as a tomb for his favorite wife, Mumtaz Mahal. I would love to go to India and learn more about their culture and traditions. Would you?

India Tennis

One of India's favorite activities to do is to play tennis. They have enjoyed playing the sport since the 1880's. India has counted tennis as one of the most popular sports, that most people in urban areas play. There is something called the All Indian Tennis Association, is what Indians play in. Tennis came to India by some British Officers introduced the game to them. One Indian person who is playing in the ATP tour is named Mahesh Bhupathi who plays mixed doubles and has mostly been a runner-up and has also won a couple grand slams. I think that more people in India will start playing tennis and become an even more popular sport. Do you think that tennis will be a popular sport in India?

Games in India

Have you ever heard of a game called Cricket before? It is not commonly found in countries that are America, China and Canada. Well it is the game people play in India to entertain themselves. I have never actually played the game before, but people say it's like baseball just played a little differently. All you need is a ball, something to hit a ball with and three sticks. India also plays popular board games in the U.S like chess and chutes and ladders. What other games do you think India plays that I did not just explain to you?

Humayun's Tomb

In India there is a tomb called the Humayun’s Tomb.  The reason this is so special is because it is the tomb of Mughal Emperor Humayun. His son ,Akbar, commissioned the tomb.  It was the first garden tomb ever in India.  It also has a very complex entrance for some reason.  It does not say why but the Building is very big.  The tomb represented a big leap in Mughal architecture.  Mughal also started the tradition of being buried after dead.  When you die do you want to have something like Mughal has? I know I would.

Trying New Things is Scary

There is all types of food in India. Some are good, and some are bad. A famous cuisine is the Indian-Style Salmon Fry. It’s canned salmon with grilled onions, and tomatoes. I can’t find any bad foods, but some foods have hazards that can harm or effect someone’s life. I personally prefer regular American food because I’m too scared to try new things from different countries. I always feared that I would get sick or get food poisoning. It’s never happened to me, but I fear that it will happen someday. Do you think that this will ever happen to you?

South Asian Heritages.

To some a simple question of “where are you from” can cause a great deal of problems to others. A lot of people think that when they answer your question they should say the country they live in presently and not their heritage. Asian families are typically more keen to have their children not do as much of the other cultures where they live now, instead they choose to make them use their Asian Heritage. For many Asian parents there goal as a parent is to make sure there kids are well educated and wed. Hindus have a calender based on the moon. So most of the celebrations are in the middle of months. Also a lot of people celebrate holidays differently from one place to another. Does your family have any heritage that affects your life.

South Asian Food

South asian food is always great. It doesn't matter what time you have it, if you eat the right thing, then it's good. Chinese people eat Chinese food, Korean people eat Korean food, and Japanese people eat Japanese. That's how it works. It's not the timing, it's what taste do you have. Usually it doesn't matter, but if you're picky than you shouldn't eat anything that's asian. But don't ever, EVER, eat something that is unhealthy in Asia. Lots of fat. In South Asia, there are scorpions people want you to eat. But what's really good? Curry. Everyone loves curry.

The Komodo Dragon

Image result for komodo dragon     Komodo Dragons can only be found in Indonesia, and can run up to 11 miles per hour. Some things the Komodo Dragon eats are: carrion, pigs, water buffalo, deer, smaller dragons and sometimes even humans! If an animal escapes the grip of a Komodo Dragon they won't have very long, a Komodo's saliva has at least 50 bacteria in it, so the animal usually dies of blood poisoning or the Komodo itself.                                 In one meal a Komodo can eat as much as 80% of its own body weight, talk about an appetizing meal. The Komodo's are being poached but thankfully are staying at a stable population size of 3,000 to 5,000 on the islands of Komodo, Gila Motang, Rinca and Flores. Komodo's are able to be 10 ft. long (3 meters) and can 300 to 350 lbs. A downside to being a Komodo Dragon is they are also vulnerable.

Food

In India there is food that's not like the kind we eat or have ever heard about. The food they eat is not always for just eating it can also be for regional use. One kind of food is Bihra is a baked flour cake. Goa is a soup with seafood in it has crab, mussels and other kind of food. Would you like to eat food like this. Or these indian food gujarat which has vegetables and dried food. The food they eat in India Is a lot different from the food that we eat here. Would you eat there food.

Do know what the Taj Mahal is?

Well the Taj Mahal is a ivory-white marble building in India. It is in the city of Agra.  The cost of the Taj Mahal is 52.8 million rupees that is 827 million dollars in the U.S. For the art inside it took 20,000 people. The Taj Mahal 34,596 square feet big. The Taj Mahal is visited over the weekend by 200,000 people. To build the Taj Mahal it took from 1632 to 1653 that took a long time. Would you ever want to come and visit the Taj Mahal in India or just visit India?

Indian cuisine

Indian food is not all from India. Its a combination of, spices, herbs, and vegetables. Indian food is heavily influenced by religion, culture, and traditions.Historical incidents such as foreign invasions, trade relations and colonialism have also played a role in introducing certain foods to the country. For instance, the potato, a staple of the Indian diet, was brought to India by the Portuguese, who also introduced chillies and breadfruit. Indian cuisine has also shaped the history of international relations; the spice trade between India and Europe is often cited by historians as the primary catalyst for Europe's Age of Discovery. Spices were bought from India and traded around Europe and Asia. It has also influenced other cuisines across the world, especially those from Southeast Asia, the British Isles, Fiji, and the Caribbean.

Indian dance styles

In India there are eight different dance styles. They are Bharatanatyam, Kathak, Kathakali, Kuchipudi, and Odissi. The dance style Bharatanatyam was brought to life in the 21st century. The first person who danced Bharatanatyam first was Rajeswari Tress. The dance called Kathak is a type of dance where the form traces its origins to the nomadic bards of ancient northern India, known as storytellers. The dance style called Kathakali is where you pick a character and act with it for example drama. The dance style Kuchipudi is popular all over south india and is a classical dance style. The dance style Odissi is one of the eight classical dance forms and it originates from the state of Odisha, in eastern india. If I were to choose one of these dance styles to dance I would choose Bharatanatyam because it was the first dance style invented in India. If you were to choose one of these dance styles to dance which one would you choose?

India

India is a very diverse country many ethnic groups live there. India is also has a lot of different climates. You may think that it’s just hot all year round but it’s not. When you go up north like in New Delhi in Fall and winter the temperature drops. It also rains a lot. Last year in November my mom went to India when there was a huge rain storm in Chennai. I saw pictures were the street were flooded and people had use boats to go around the city. What do you like about India the food, climate, or something like the Taj Mahal.

The Big Country of South Asia

India, the biggest country in South Asia, has many great things about it. First, the food India has, look delicious like   Alu Gobi, Chili Chicken, and Chapati,  for example*. India also has many different kinds of festivals. I think that I would like to try Chapati the most because it resembles a food that I like, pita bread. Second, festivals include Diwali (marks the return of Lord Rama), Holi ( signifies the victory of good over evil and the arrival of spring), and more*.  Third, there are also a TON of enjoyable things you can do in India, most notably, going to the Taj Mahal*. Going to India has many pros and would be an extraordinary experience to go there. If I had the chance to go to India than I would go, would you do the same?

Indian Food

I think Indian food is very spicy.  I like Indian food but not all of it sometimes it is too spicy that I can’t eat it.  One time I had Indian food for the first time my mouth was on fire I couldn’t bare it I just got like 3 water bottles and jugged it.  Later it went away but part of it was still there.  I haven’t eaten Indian food since but since I’ve grown up I have learned to like Indian food.  Sometime my dad makes it and I like it so much but mostly everyone in my family thinks it is too spicy.  Now I like Indian food.

Weird Foods in Southeast Asia ***WARNING*** GRAPHIC IMAGES

Here are some of the odd foods in Asia that may seem odd or even gross to us, but not to others, but I feel like I would hate all of these foods because I am sort of picky. These foods are from places like Cambodia, Thailand, and Laos

1. Tarantulas: Yes, some people eat spiders. That. Is. Terrifying. Who in their right mind would do this.
2. Locusts: They are like the evil version of grasshoppers. Eating them is just revenge for destroying our crops. Apparently (I wouldn't know) it's good with beer.
3. Deep fried chicken... hearts: Dear lord why?!? Who in their right mind would eat this?
4. Fried eggs and ANTS: This one I can understand. This fulfills your childhood need to eat bugs. Sour taste and good with chilli.
5. And the best… or worst for last… Raw Cobra Heart: If you get this at a restaurant in Vietnam, they rip out the still beating heart of the cobra and place it in a shot glass for you to eat.

Holika Dahan

This festival begins after sunset on March 22. (hey that's today!) This festival is a celebration of how hard the people of India work through the whole year and this festival gives them a time to relax and hang out. I think this festival is like the Indian version of our Labor Day because it is basically the same concept, just on different days. This festival is like several other days in the world where the people have the day off, like labor day. This festival also brings people together, usually at a dinner with friends and family.

Yay! Friendship!
Afghanistan is home to war and one of the most popular war grounds in the world. The population is around 32 million half is related to war. Fun places in India

India is a very populated country with many different cultures and languages. I think India is a super fun place to visit because of Taj Mahal because it is a super cool site and it is made out of white ivory stone. It is also a super fun place to live and go shopping. they go to a popular mall called Lulu international shopping mall where you can buy all things. Also there a is monument called The Red Fort which is a 1600s museum. Also you can go to the ganges where you can swim, canoe and swim with dolphins. I think you should visit here and if you do where would you visit?

In Nepal

In Nepal there are festivals all year round and mix that with a few political rallies and you wonder how they keep it all running and without people killing other people like a giant hunger games, just in real life. It would be really crazy to have a birthday party and then when you're watching movie and then there is a dude with a megaphone in the street saying please go to a safe place there is a terrorist attack and then everyone not screaming and running but walking calmly to the safe place. How would you react if there was a terrorist attack near your home?

Indian Tennis!

A man who has trained very hard, has made his way to the big stage. That man is Yuki Bhambri he is currently on the ATP World Tour (Associations of Tennis Professionals). Yuki currently lives in New Delhi, India which is where he trains. I saw him play once at the 2015 U.S. Open against the number one player in the world. (Novak Djokovic) Yuki got blown away by the ball striking from Novak, but after that match he has been playing really well and cracked the top 100 in the world. How will you develop as an athlete?

The republic of India

In Southwest Asia food is one their specializes my favorites would be a close decision between fried bat or balut, fertilized duck egg that you can grill up and eat. If I had to chose one to eat it would be the fried bat because it probably just tastes like chicken. These foods can be found in Iraq, Kazakhstan and Iran. If ever visit there I probably won't eat either of those but like I said If I had to choose it would be the fried bat. Now if you were to choose one of these crazy foods which would you choose?

Balut article

India

Have you ever eaten a soft boiled fetal duck? It is one of the most disgusting foods because it is cracked duck egg with the duck in it. It is boiled which makes it real weird. This food can be found in India, The Philippians and Vietnam. There is also something called The Sheep Head. The people said the best part about the Sheep is its eyes and tongue. I think that is so disgusting. The Sheep is mostly eaten in India. Here is one last disgusting food is the Jellied Moose Nose. Pretty much what it is they cook the moose and cut of the nose and when it is cut it comes out jellied some how.  Would you eat any of this foo I explained to you?

Festival of lights

Image result for lights
I have chosen a festival called Diwali it is celebrated in india. Diwali is celebrated in between October and December and is also known asFestival of Lights,  on this day everyone , especially Hindus, light up their houses with lights including candles and diyas. Festival Of The Lights is celebrated in honour of Lord Rama. He returned to his kingdom, Ayodhya, after spending 14 years in the forest. On this day, people dress themselves in their best outfit and take part in their family function. This day is celebrated in the mark of victory of good over bad. There is a tradition of worshiping Devi Lakshmi and Ganpati Deva on this day.  It is done for securing peace, prosperity, wealth and happiness. If you could make up a festival what would it be?
